Archive Audit Data

Archive Audit Data moves data change information of a certain age or older from the Audit table to the AuditArc table.

Data changes that are archived can be reviewed only by a system administrator who has rights to open your GiftWrap database tables directly. Data changes in the Audit table can be reviewed or reported on using Review Audit Information.

Data change information accumulates rapidly in an active GiftWrap database. It can become slow and cumbersome to review this data using GiftWrap's Review Audit Information function once the Audit table where this information is stored initially becomes large. Regular use of Archive Audit Data will maintain the Audit table at a size that it is easy to work with within GiftWrap. Archived data will remain accessible to a system administrator, should you ever need to review it, without impeding your use of GiftWrap.

The age above which audit data is moved from the Audit table to the AuditArc table is determined by the setting in the Administrator Settings window that establishes the number of days of history to be kept in the Audit table. This setting can be changed by someone logged in as the GiftWrap administrator only.

To archive audit data

1. Click Setup - Administrator > Settings/Monitoring in the Menu Bar.

2. Enter a value for each setting. There is help available on each setting.

3. Click OK to save your preference settings. Click Cancel to close the General Preferences window without saving any changes to your preference settings.
